This page will guide you through setting up your Cradlepoint CTR500 for remote communications over the Internet. This page assumes that the CTR500 is in its default state (i.e. just opened out of the box).
Before you follow the steps below, DOWNLOAD THIS CONFIG FILE FIRST!. This CTR500 configuration file
is the PFC default settings for a CTR500 that supports up to two Multiflex controllers for remote communications via Browser and Trackster 3.
Load PFC Default CTR500 Configuration File
Download the PFC default CTR500 configuration file here NOTE: If you have problems with the router installing the CTR500-TwoControllerDefault.bin file, rename the extension of the file from .bin to .gws.
Connect an ethernet (aka network) cable to your computer and to the CTR500 router
Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox
In the address bar of the browser, enter http://192.168.0.1 or click here to automatically open http://192.168.0.1. This will direct you to the administration pages for the Cradlepoint router.
You should be prompted to login to the router. Enter the default admin password which is the last six (6) characters of the MAC Address that can be found on the bottom of the router. The password is case-sensitive.
Navigate to Tools > System
Click the "Choose File" button located next to "Load From Local Hard Drive".
Navigate to the configuration file that you downloaded in the first step
Click the "Restore Configuration from File" button
When prompted to reboot the router, click the "Reboot Now" button.
Notice! The configuration file that you just uploaded changed the LAN IP Address of the router from 192.168.0.1 to 10.10.6.1.
So, if you want to access the router's administration pages again, you will need to enter http://10.10.6.1 (as opposed to http://192.168.0.1) in the address bar of your browser.
In addition to the IP Address being changed, the CTR500 Administration Login Password has been changed to "PFCadm1n". The purpose of the password change is to force you to
not overlook the fact that you can change the CTR500 Administrator Password and, more importantly, that you should change the CTR500 Administrator Password. You can change
the CTR500 Administrator Password at any time by going to the "Tools > Admin" page, then updating the "Admin Password" section.
Before you continue on, make sure the following list is checked-off:
The data card is activated and a Static IP Address has been assigned to it.
You know what the Static IP Address of the data card is.
Controller Setup and Connection
The router is configured to support remote communications for up to two controllers. If you are only using one controller, then you can connect a network cable directly from
the controller to the CTR500. However, if you are connecting more than one controller to the CTR500, you will need to purchase a Network Hub and connect both controllers and
the CTR500 to the Network Hub.
The controller's communication settings must be as follows: Note the IP Addresses are different, bu the Port Numbers are the same.
Controller 1
IP Address: 10.10.6.106
HTML (HTTP) Port: 80
Telnet Port: 23
Controller 2
